Крайняя осень: Почему у нас все чаще говорят «крайний» вместо «последний»

(Ведомости) За этим стоят два социальных сдвига. Во-первых, пришествие силовиков, которые задают новый стандарт не только в политике, но и в обществе, в поведении, в речи. Говоря «крайний», человек как бы добавляет себе мужественности, намекая на свою связь с военно-силовой корпорацией, на наличие силового ресурса. Точно так же сегодня многие гражданские автомобили, вплоть до самых невзрачных, вставляют номерные знаки в рамку, на которой написано «МВД РФ» или «Следственный комитет", или даже «ФГУ АТП УД Президента РФ», словно от этих рамок исходят эманации все той же нездешней силы.

А во-вторых, табуирование слова «последний», как и устойчивость прочих российских суеверий (руку через порог не подавать; новорожденному в коляску не заглядывать, чтобы не сглазить; пустые банки не возвращать и прочее), хорошо вписывается в наступившую эпоху нового Средневековья и кризиса рациональности. Мы не пристегиваемся в машине за рулем, зато возим на приборной панели иконостас, в МИФИ открывается кафедра теологии, суды ссылаются на постановления Лаодикийского и Трулльского церковных соборов IV и VII веков, врачи в поликлиниках прописывают чудотворные молитвы, астрологический прогноз в новостях воспринимается столь же естественно, какбиржевые котировки и курсы валют, а квартиры планируются строго по фэншуй. В атмосфере тотального кризиса научного знания и актуализации древних архетипов нет ничего удивительного в том, что слово «крайний» обретает магическую силу оберега в полном соответствии с духом наступившей православно-силовой симфонии […]
