In this memo I compare Soviet and post-Soviet migration from Nagorno Karabakh, describe how people migrated and for what reasons, and analyze the pressures people from the region faced after the collapse of the USSR. The findings stem from research I conducted in the town of Martuni, a small district center in Nagorno Karabakh, with a population of approximately 5,000.
